NIHR Associate PI Scheme for Anaesthesia

The NIHR Clinical Research Network has begun piloting a new scheme within several medical specialties, including one for Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management.

The Associate Principal Investigator (API) Scheme aims to develop junior doctors, nurses and Allied Health Professionals to become the PIs of the future and provides formal recognition of a trainee's engagement in NIHR Portfolio research studies. The scheme has been endorsed by the RCoA. Studies must be open for at least 9 months in order to be part of the scheme and must be recruiting for at least 6 months to accept new applicants. Registration is prospective only.

Full details of the scheme and how to get involved are available here.

The API Scheme was also featured in a recent edition of the RCoA Bulletin which you can read here  NIHR API.pdf (162 KB)
