Endogenous antioxidant capacity and oxidative stress after thoracic surgery

Summary: In this prospective observational pilot study we seek to evaluate the role that dysfunction of endogenous antioxidant mechanisms plays in the development of oxidative and nitrosative stress and endothelial dysfunction following thoracic surgery.

Recruitment for this project is complete. We are excited that data analysis is now just round the corner and look forward to reporting our findings to both the Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists and the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia in the spring of 2012.
